How and Why I Create 

Hi, I’m Desirée Rivera. I love making new art pieces and coming up with different ideas. I believe people should be able to do the kind of work they love. I also believe that people should buy art from people, not corporations. Buying art can be costly. It's my goal to offer fair prices that take into account the materials I use, the labor it takes to create, and the time it takes to complete a quality piece.

Each of my Conversation Art Pieces begins its life as a sketch then a watercolor or acrylic painting that I make and print in my small studio. I source high-grade acid-free paper, fine inkjet ink, and other quality materials. All are well-packaged in order to bring you the best art product while keeping prices reasonable. Eventually, I will include fine art canvas paintings and framed works. For now, I'm building my small business brick by brick. 

Full Circle

I guess you can say that life has brought me full circle—from a child making sketches to an adult making art again. Life took me in other directions: education, parenting, community organizer...now I'm a mother of three boys (one of which has Down syndrome) and I'm able to return to art. I often wonder what my abuelas (my grandmothers) would think if they were here with me today, having made their own journeys from Puerto Rico to New York City and working so hard to support our families. I miss them and I think they would be glad that I didn’t give up doing what I love to do.
